8995. Mixtec Incised Stone Mask
Early Post Classic Periods, Ca. 800 to 1500 A.D.
A carved white calcite stone maskette perforated at the upper corners for suspension. Depicting a stylized human head having an angular nose, large almond shaped eyes with drilled pupils, and a incised rectangular toothy mouth. Overall tan-brown surface patina. A few minor edge losses and nicks on the nose, otherwise intact, and excellent condition. Ex Collection of Karl Mann, NYC. Size: 4 inches H. + custom mount. Quite Poetic
